By accessing or using Transcriptly's services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.
2. Service Description
Transcriptly provides transcription services through three different methods:
- YouTube Standard Mode: Access to YouTube video transcripts through YouTube's official caption system
- YouTube AI Mode: AI-powered transcription for YouTube videos without captions, using third-party AI services (ElevenLabs, OpenAI Whisper)
- File Upload AI Transcription: AI-powered transcription for your uploaded video and audio files
YouTube AI Mode Limitations:
YouTube AI Mode does not support the following video types:
- Private videos
- Members-only content
- Age-restricted videos
- Region-blocked videos
- Deleted or unavailable videos
Important Usage Limitation:
Our service is intended for personal, non-commercial use only. If you plan to use transcripts for commercial purposes, you must first obtain permission from the original content creators. We are not responsible for any unauthorized commercial use of the transcripts.
3. User Accounts
When creating an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
- Take responsibility for all activities under your account
4. Usage Guidelines
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to circumvent any usage limits or restrictions
- Share your account credentials with others
- Automate access to the service without our permission
- Interfere with the proper working of the service
5. Credits and Payment
Our service operates on a credit-based system. Credits are consumed when accessing transcripts. Free accounts receive a limited number of credits that refresh daily.
We offer two types of paid plans:
- Subscription Plans: Monthly recurring payments that automatically renew until canceled
- One-Time Payments: Single payment valid for 12 months from the date of purchase
All payments are non-refundable unless required by law. Credits expire based on your plan type and cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.
6. Intellectual Property
YouTube Content:
The transcripts provided for YouTube videos (both Standard Mode and AI Mode) are subject to the original video creators' copyright. Users are responsible for ensuring their use of transcripts complies with applicable copyright laws.
Uploaded Files:
You retain all rights to the content you upload. By uploading files to our service, you grant us a limited license to process and store your content solely for the purpose of providing transcription services to you. We do not claim ownership of your uploaded content.
Commercial Use:
For any commercial use of transcripts, including but not limited to:
- Business presentations or materials
- Commercial publications or products
- Paid educational content
- Marketing materials
For YouTube content, you must contact the original video creator directly to obtain proper permissions and licenses. For your uploaded files, you are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights to use the content commercially.
Transcriptly's name, logo, and the design of our service are our exclusive property.
7. Limitation of Liability
Our service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for:
- The accuracy of transcripts (both original captions and AI-generated)
- The availability of captions for specific YouTube videos
- Access to restricted YouTube content (private, members-only, age-restricted, etc.)
- The quality or format of uploaded files
AI-Generated Transcripts:
Transcripts generated using AI technology (YouTube AI Mode and File Upload AI Transcription) may contain errors, inaccuracies, or missing content. These transcripts are provided for convenience and should be reviewed for accuracy before use in any critical applications. We strongly recommend verifying AI-generated transcripts against the original audio/video content.
We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of our service, any inability to access transcripts, or any reliance on the accuracy of transcripts (whether original or AI-generated).
8. Service Modifications
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of our service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
9. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account for violations of these terms. You may also terminate your account at any time by contacting us.
